Introduction

There are many reasons why you may have gained weight but the main reason for weight gain is that there is more energy being taken in than is being expended. This weight gain can creep up on you, by consuming just an additional 85 calories a day over your energy expenditure over a year you will gain around 9lbs in weight. Changes to our lifestyle are one reason why we take in more energy than we burn off, often we have become less active, it's easy to sit down for long periods of the day and move very little.

You can work through this 8 step programme at your own pace; however, we recommend that you take a step each week to embed your behaviour changes firmly in your lifestyle.
